Cosmestic Wastewater Treatment with MBR System

Project Description: Treatment of wastewater for Cosmetic Manufacturing Company in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan

Product Used in this Project:

A manufacturing plant in Nilai producing cosmetic, household and toiletries product required to upgrade the current waste water treatment to meet the BOD less than 20 ppm and COD less than 80 ppm. The previous plant was based on chemical treatment to reduce the BOD and COD to meet the regulation requirement. However, such treatment process with raw waste water containing BOD approximate 2000-3000 ppm and COD approximate 5000-6000 ppm was unable to produce consistent waste water discharge meeting the regulation limits. It also produced huge amount of hazardous sludge resulting in high cost for sludge disposal.

Because of space constrain, a membrane bioreactor (MBR) system was incorporated into the current chemical waste water to reduce the BOD and COD. The MBR system is also able to produce consistent final discharge below regulation limits.
